Fire & Feast
The second in our Woodland series. Join Dave Crosbie of Tree-ditions & myself for a day of learning, cooking & feasting.
A hands on, 1 day course, when you will learn how to cook outdoors - the skills of building & maintaining a fire; smoking; roasting; baking in salt and cooking in an earth oven…
Finishing up with magical Woodland supper at the end of the day!
Seashore Foraging
A trip to the seaside! July for me, as a child, was marked by a 2 week trip to the seaside at Portrush for our annual holiday.
Join Dave & myself for a forager's eye-view on what the seashore's larder holds. Buckets & spades, optional!
We will focus on saltmarsh, dunes, the sandy shore & seaweed identification and then kick back for a fire cooked feast for a late lunch on the beach.
Fire & Feast 2
Following the success of our first Fire & Feast workshop in April and due to popular demand, Dave Crosbie of Tree-ditions and myself have scheduled another day of learning, cooking and feasting.
A hands on, 1 day course when you will learn how to cook outdoors - the skills of building and maintaining a fire; smoking; roasting; baking in salt and cooking in an earth oven...
Finishing up with a magical Woodland supper at the end of the day!
Fungi 1
A Foraging day focussing on fungi. Leading mycologist Neville Kilkenny will be joining us to explore woodland fungi. Nev is a Research Associate at RBGE and is also a keen forager...so he is pretty skilled at hunting down alll types of fungi!
We will look at how to identify fungi, edibility of some species, other uses of fungi and importantly, their role in the ecosystem.
A fire cooked, foraged Feast, majorly featuring mushrooms will top off a magical day in the Woods!
Seashore & Rockpool
Foraging for coastal seafood from the rockpools & sandy shallows as the tide ebbs - cockles, mussels, limpets, periwinkles; saltmarsh & sandy shoreline succulents.
Bring your wellies and a bucket!
Followed by a fire-cooked, Seafood extravaganza for a late lunch on the beach!
Fungi 2
A second Autumn foraging date focussing on fungi, this time in the woodlands of Perthshire, continues our series of Woodland Forage & Food workshops. A day when we shall explore the Woodland in her Autumn attire!
We will be joined again by Neville Kilkenny, a leading Mycologist and Research Associate at RBGE. With a forager's eye and a wealth of Fungi knowledge and lore, Nev will guide us through the fascinating world of fungi. Identification, edibility, the role of fungi in the ecosystem and their other uses beyond sustenance, will all be covered on the day.
Topped off with a fire cooked Woodland Feast ... showcasing foraged fungi of course and celebrating the bounty of the Autumn Woodland!
